MOONSTONE Refit
We are delighted to confirm the successful completion and launch of the large-scale Amels Refit of the 72.2-metre Delta Marine-built superyacht MOONSTONE, formerly known as ALBATROSS. The yacht arrived at the Damen Yachting facilities in early 2023, marking the start of an ambitious and highly complex transformation that would ultimately see her reborn as a completely reimagined yacht.
A Bold Transformation
Over the course of an intensive two-year refit programme at Damen Yachting’s shipyard in Vlissingen, MOONSTONE underwent a comprehensive redesign and technical renewal. The scope of work included a substantial 7.5-metre extension to the transom, enabling the creation of a dedicated wellness hub, as well as the addition of a swimming pool on the main deck aft. Alongside these major structural modifications, approximately 80% of the interior was reworked, with significant layout changes and a full stylistic transition from a classical interior to a more contemporary, residential atmosphere, tailored precisely to the Owners’ lifestyle.
Future-Ready Engineering
Beyond the visible transformation, the project also encompassed a complete refit of the yacht’s technical platform. Engines, generators, pumps and exhaust systems were dismantled, refurbished or upgraded, with all systems thoroughly inspected, certified and optimised to ensure long-term reliability and performance. Drawing on its strength as a new-build shipyard, Damen Yachting applied the same rigorous engineering, naval architecture and project management disciplines typically reserved for new construction — an approach that proved essential given the scale of the structural changes and the fact that the yacht was not originally built by the yard.
