Hosted by the International Superyacht Society (ISS), these awards were created in 1990 to call attention to the outstanding achievements in the design and construction of large yachts.



As the first vessel in the Amels 60-metre semi-custom series built by Damen Yachting, COME TOGETHER features an exterior design by Espen Øino and her interior by Winch Design. Earlier this year, COME TOGETHER was also crowned the winner of a World Superyacht Award [https://www.damenyachting.com/news/come-together-wins-her-category-at-the-2023-world-superyacht-awards].

This year, the eligibility criteria for The ISS Awards allowed yachts built and delivered between 2020 and 2022 to be considered on elements such as external appearance, interior design, craftsmanship, design practicality and technology. 

“The global pandemic has had a significant impact on various industries, including the superyacht sector. Despite these extraordinary circumstances, yacht builders, designers, and industry professionals have demonstrated admirable resilience and creativity. It is essential that we acknowledge and recognise the exceptional vessels that have been created during this challenging period,” says ISS’ spokesperson.

The judging process is rigorous and the panel of experts carefully evaluate each entry. Honouring Crews and Captains at the ACREW Crew Awards 2023

The first Amels 80 [https://www.amelsyachting.com/fleet/amels-8001] is afloat! Measuring 80 metres (261 feet) in length, the new hull and superstructure was seen outside of her hull build shed for the first time since the concept was introduced in March 2022. She will now journey to our shipyard in the Netherlands for final outfitting.

This next-generation Amels Limited Editions, and the first of the most recent designs to be introduced, is on track to be delivered to her new Owner in 2025. Since selling the yacht exactly one year ago, the team at Burgess has remained involved in the build process to represent the Owner. 

Built for a forward-thinking Owner

“The Owner is enthusiastic and forward thinking when it comes to his yachting needs and our team has worked closely with him and Damen Yachting to realise his vision. Taking the Amels Limited Editions platform as a superior baseline, the Owner has embellished the design in specific areas making the yacht a truly custom vessel,” says Sean Bianchi, Partner - Head of Burgess New Construction, Naval Architect.

Damen Yachting's Project Manager, Romke van der Linde explains what this milestone means for the yard and all those involved in the project. “This Owner is positive, driven and passionate and it is great that we can realise this dream for him and be at the forefront of shipbuilding. What we are creating incorporates over a century of yacht-building expertise and the experience gained from the Amels Limited Editions evolution – a process I have always been proud to be a part of. Today is a huge milestone in the history of our Amels Limited Editions. I can't wait for her to arrive in Vlissingen and watch her evolve into the special superyacht she is set to become."

The evolution of the Amels classics

We continue to evolve our products and, for many years, have perfected the Limited Editions superyachts and their various sizes and designs. With the classic Limited Edition designs still a firm favourite of many, the range increased in 2019 with the https://www.amelsyachting.com/portfolio/amels-60Amels 60 [https://www.amelsyachting.com/portfolio/amels-60] and now the largest Limited Editions yacht to date, the https://www.amelsyachting.com/portfolio/amels-80Amels 80 [https://www.amelsyachting.com/portfolio/amels-80].

In keeping with the Amels DNA, designer Espen Øino created a holistic and modern exterior design. A key factor of the next-generation design is that it features sustainable materials and innovative hybrid technology. 

“The Amels 80 is a design that will not age. Her modern strong lines will look as good in 10 years as the day she is delivered. She is everything and more that you would expect from an 80-metre yacht. There is a sense of scale, and nothing is wasted,” explains Espen Øino.

Neutral and natural interior

Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design is the design studio behind the first Amels 80’s custom interiors. In line with the Amels Limited Editions concept, the Amels 80’s Owner has utilised the semi-custom platform and opted for an interior with a personalised layer of loose furniture and decorative elements. 

“It’s a very neutral and natural palette,” explains Paul Costerus, Lead Designer at Sinot. “Materials are treated so that the natural characteristics remain as pure as possible.”

Other features on board the Amels 80 include an impressive 200-square-metre (2,153 sq ft) Sun Deck, a Waterside Beach Club which opens on three sides with a nearby Wellness and Spa, a dedicated Owner’s Deck and huge framed windows for panoramic views on the Main Deck. The yacht also houses a multitude of watercraft and toys and a helicopter landing area.

Our first Amels 80 makes a splash 

Six Amels superyachts will be on display at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show marking our highest number of showcases presented together at one show to date.

Headlining the line-up are the Amels 60 ENTOURAGE and the Amels 180 PAPA. In addition, visitors will also find the Amels 180 WERE DREAMS, the Amels 60 COME TOGETHER and the Full Custom CALYPSO at the show presented by their respective brokers. It is also understood that the Amels 212 VENTUM MARIS will also be showcased.

Monaco Yacht Show 2023: Unprecedented Line-Up

This week in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, the fourth Amels 60 superyacht touched water for the first time. The new 60-metre Amels 60 is on track to be delivered to her Owner this autumn.

The fourth Amels 60 features an exterior Design by Espen Øino, naval architecture by Damen Yachting and a custom interior by two collaborating studios: Studio Indigo and Pure Living.

Since being introduced in 2019, the popular Amels 60 series continues to grow and currently includes an impressive six units. While the sisterships share similar features and a proven platform, each has her own spirit and individuality.

The semi-custom design offers Owners the opportunity to customise their yacht’s interiors and various elements of the exterior. For the Owner of the fourth Amels 60, the windows were transformed into long lines of glazing which cover the floor-to-ceiling height of 1.9 metres in the Main Saloon. 

“We’ve had a very strong reception to this new Amels design – largely because an Owner can step into a new build, make some customisations and yet still benefit from a two-year delivery time,” says Jan van Hogerwou, Damen Yachting’s Commercial Executive USA.  

The Amels 60 offers six staterooms for up to 12 guests, including a full-beam Owner’s Suite on the Main Deck Forward. Designed as a private retreat, the Suite features a folding balcony terrace and an adjoining cabin that can be used as a VIP, children’s suite, office, or gym. The remaining four guest suites can be found on the Lower Deck. 

Other highlights include a Beach Club sauna, a Jacuzzi on the Sundeck, and a touch-and-go helipad.

To lower her impact on the environment, the Amels 60 features IMO Tier III compliant hybrid power and propulsion technology, cutting-edge equipment, superior seakeeping abilities and a transatlantic range of 4,500 miles. The Amels 60 is also able to store a tender of up to 9 metres on the foredeck – a notable feat for a yacht of this size.
