The hull and superstructure of the Amels 120 Full Custom has arrived at the Damen Yachting shipyard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, for outfitting. A milestone which marks the start of the final construction phase of this 120-metre superyacht , and for many, provides a first look a the design of this confidential project.

Scheduled for delivery in 2025, the Amels 120 Full Custom is currently the largest superyacht in-build in the Netherlands and the largest Amels to be built to date. She features a striking five-deck exterior design by Espen Øino and Naval Architecture by Damen Yachting. Details regarding the custom interiors remain private. The Client will be represented throughout the build and final construction phase by Deeside Maritime.

The arrival of this Amels Full Custom in Vlissingen follows her recent launch at the Amels hull building facility at Damen Shipyards Galati 1 month ago which was celebrated with both the team from Vlissingen and Galati. The launch was also attended by local school children.

Amels Project Manager Jeroen Waalewijn explains, “the launch of the hull was an emotional yet incredible moment for all of those who have played such an integral part in the realisation of the Amels 120 Full Custom so far. To see her out on the water and to now have her here in Vlissingen is a testament to the entire project team. We look forward to this next stage in her build journey as we transform her into our future flag ship.”

As the future flagship of Damen Yachting, this 120-metre incorporates the latest in design and technology features. To limit her impact on the environment, the superyacht will be powered by diesel-electric engines and Azipod® electric propulsion. She is set to operate with the lowest levels of noise and vibration ever recorded on a yacht of this size. 

Amels 120 Full Custom arrives in Vlissingen

This week, the latest Amels 60 began her series of sea trials on the North Sea. The new 60-metre superyacht is currently for sale at Damen Yachting.

As a very appealing opportunity for buyers on the new-build market, the next Amels 60 [https://www.amelsyachting.com/fleet/amels-6003] will be ready in August 2023 to let her Owner enjoy the height of the summer season.

Following her award-winning sistership COME TOGETHER and the customised ENTOURAGE, the next Amels 60 features a distinctive exterior design by Espen Øino with signature geometric windows. The contemporary interiors are by the well-known interior design studio, Winch Design.

Well-suited to both private and charter use, the 830GT Amels 60 offers a generous arrangement with room for up to 12 guests and 13 crew. The design focuses on the user experience and has one of the largest Sun Decks in this size range at 162 square metres. This area contains a Jacuzzi with a swim-jet function for up to six guests, a shaded dining table and a bar, a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen, a teppanyaki grill and a cinematic set-up for star-studded film nights. The touch-and-go helipad can also be used as a sunbathing spot or a unique gym area.

On the Main Deck, the Owner’s Suite benefits from large windows and a 7-metre-square balcony. There is a beam-to-beam bathroom and a walk-in closet on the forward side.

The yacht’s four guest suites occupy the Guest Deck alongside the Beach Club. All cabins can sleep two guests and have beautifully appointed en-suite bathrooms. The Beach Club features access to the swim platform, a sauna, a steam shower, a seating arrangement and ample storage for water toys.

In terms of technology, the Amels 60 is fitted with the most advanced hybrid propulsion system supplied by Amels so far, which not only reduces fuel consumption and exhaust emissions but also protects the lifespan of the generators and the main engines. In addition, vibration and noise are greatly reduced. Two luxury tenders can be stowed out of sight on the foredeck thanks to a clever storage solution.

“This proven hybrid system currently offers the best solution to reduce harmful emissions, reduce noise and vibrations while benefiting from lower fuel and maintenance costs. It also allows you to cruise up to a certain speed without using the main engines, solely cruising on the generators,” says Joppe Osté, Project Manager at Damen Yachting.

As a continuation of the popular Amels Limited Editions collection, the Amels 60 series comprises two delivered superyachts and four under construction since its introduction in 2019.

New Amels 60 embarks on sea trials

As the first vessel in the Amels 60-metre semi-custom series built by Damen Yachting, COME TOGETHER features an exterior design by Espen Øino and her interior by Winch Design.

Delivered in 2022, COME TOGETHER was created from a detailed design brief that included the owner’s request for an interior perfect for entertaining and unwinding with family and friends. Winch Design met this with a relaxed and natural theme that gives a subtly masculine feel to its tactile and architectural form. BOAT International’s carefully selected panel of judges formed of 23 current and former yacht owners stated that they felt the interior style blended well with Espen Øino’s angular and geometric exterior.

Among other admirable layout features, the judges were taken by the yacht’s amazingly spacious sundeck, where the central portion features sliding-glass doors to prevent unpleasant wind that can spoil open-air gatherings. The yacht’s hybrid-propulsion technology was also admired, enabling COME TOGETHER to up anchor and slow cruise without starting the engines and disturbing guests. This, the judges concluded, was a well-conceived yacht and a deserved winner.

Marking the 18th edition of the event, the 2023 World Superyacht Awards was hosted by BOAT International in Istanbul, Turkey, at the Çırağan Palace Kempinski on 20 May. This prestigious annual event recognises the most notable superyachts from the past year in 19 categories.

This Amels 220 Limited Editions will be at the shipyard until the end of May to undergo some maintenance and survey work. The sale of the third hull of the Amels 80 is a fact! Project Zurich is scheduled for delivery to her new Owner in 2026.
